Books » The Taoist Eight-Sectioned Satin Chi-Kung
By Dr. Leung Ting ; Demonstrated by Sifu Siu Yuk Men
The Eight-Sectioned Satin (or Eight Pieces of Brocade) set is now subdivided into many branches. Some of them are even totally different from the original principals, sequences, and movements. There are the “Southern Styles” and the “Northern Styles.” The southern styles are more flexible and simpler in their movements. Therefore it is more suitable for weaker and older people to practice. The northern ones are more violent and more complicated. It is more suitable for younger and stronger people. The Eight-Sectioned Satin set practiced by Sifu Siu Yuk Men belongs to the southern style but has been combined with some of the Taoist chi-kung concepts and techniques. Sifu Siu has also mixed a bit of northern Eight-Sectioned Satin techniques; so it has now become a Chi-Kung set which is both efficient for promoting health and easy-to-learn for everyone.
